Our commitment
It is important to us to make the contents of this website accessible to as many people as possible. In doing so, we are guided by the success criteria of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, conformance level AA.
Note: The legal classification (including the German Accessibility Strengthening Act — BFSG, in force from June 2025) is to be assessed separately for IMIT. This statement is a draft and is to be confirmed legally before going live.
What is already implemented
The following measures have been implemented on this website:
- Language markup of the page (
lang="en"/lang="de") for screen readers - Semantic page structure with HTML landmarks (navigation, main content, footer)
- “Skip to content” link for keyboard users at the top of the page
- All graphics and icons provided with alternative text or
aria-hidden - Interactive elements (navigation, training menu, form) operable by keyboard
- Mobile menu with focus management and
aria-modal - Form fields with visible labels and linked to error messages (
aria-describedby) - Visible focus indicators for keyboard operation
- Responsive design for various screen sizes and zoom levels
Known limitations
The following points are known to us and will be improved as the opportunity arises:
- PDF documents (e.g. in the literature section) have not been systematically checked for screen-reader accessibility.
- External links are beyond our control and may have their own accessibility gaps.
